Muhammad advises Usman to delay rematch with Edwards

UFC welterweight number four, Belal Muhammad, is one of those who don’t want to see an immediate rematch between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman.

“If we are talking about numbers and rankings, if we want to make it a real sport, there should be no rematches if you lose the Super Bowl,” Muhammad is quoted by MMA Fighting. “You lost the Super Bowl, so that’s it – you’re looking forward to next year. You don’t say, ‘That was a lucky pass'”

Moreover, Muhammad believes that he should be the one who will try to remove Edwards from his throne.

“If you lose, you don’t get an immediate rematch. You have to go through the whole season before you try to get yours back. So Usman, sit back, relax, and let me fight Leon Edwards.”

Recall that on August 20 at UFC 278 in Salt Lake City, Leon Edwards shocked the world of mixed martial arts, 56 seconds before the end of the title fight with a kick to the head, knocking out at that time the reigning UFC champion Kamaru Usman, who until that moment had confidently won the battle.

Presumably, the welterweight title rematch will take place next March in London.
