MMA fighter Ismailov compared Alexander Emelianenko with Jose Aldo

Russian middleweight Magomed Ismailov believes that Alexander Emelianenko was well prepared for the fight against him.

Ismailov also responded to those who devalue his victory over the illustrious veteran.

“The Emelianenko who was then and now are two different Emelianenko. Then Emelianenko was preparing in Akhmat – he could not be unprepared. The guys who train at Akhmat cannot be unprepared, they approach the issue very well. No one can convince me that a person went to Akhmat to prepare and was poorly prepared. He was prepared very well.

Now what we see is [Марсио] Santos and so on – this is a slightly different Emelianenko. After me, this is another Emelianenko. How his career continued after the loss to me does not matter anymore.

For example, Conor McGregor knocked out Jose Aldo in the first round. After that, Aldo lost quite a lot. But we’re not saying that Conor won the bag. We understand that before this Aldo had a lot of confrontations, went ten years without defeat and defended the title many times. We are just looking at it,” Ismailov said on Instagram.

Emelianenko and Ismailov met in July 2020 at the ACA tournament in Sochi. Ismailov won by TKO in the third round.

In June-July 2022, Ismailov will fight against Alexander Shlemenko at one of the RCC league tournaments in Yekaterinburg.
