Mikey Garcia quietly retired

American ex-world champion in four weight categories Miguel Angel “Mikey” Garcia (40-2, 30 KOs) at the age of 34, after 15.5 years as a professional, announced his retirement.

But he did it so imperceptibly that no one would have guessed for a long time, if not for the observant guys with
boxingnews24.com.

Indeed, in the header of his profile in
Instagram you can see this inscription: “Mikey Garcia, public figure. World champion retired at 126, 130, 135, 140 pounds.”

The American managed to perform in five divisions. He started in featherweight (up to 57.2 kg), passed the second featherweight (up to 59 kg), light (up to 61.2 kg), super light (up to 63.5 kg) and got to welterweight (up to 66.7 kg) . During his career, he owned The Ring (2013), WBO (2013-2014), WBC (2017-2019) and IBF (2018) belts.

In the last four years, Mikey had only three fights and looked like he had lost his taste for boxing (but not for fast food and supercars).

If he does remain retired, then his finish as a boxer is minor: an unexpected defeat from the middle peasant Sandor Martin in October last year, for which he flew in the disappointment fighter nomination. Then his brapt coach made a statement about Mikey’s future career.

Let’s see.
