Mike Perry takes the majority in BKFC London’s slugfest against Michael “Venom” Page

Mike Perry may leave BKFC London with a broken jaw but he’ll do so as a winner after pulling of a majority decision over Michael “Venom” Page on Saturday.

The veteran welterweights battled it out in a 175-pound main event that saw both fighters landing big punches but the fight was so close after five rounds that the judges had it scored a majority draw. Rather than end the fight there, under BKFC rules a fight can go to a sixth and deciding round to declare the winner.

That’s where Perry poured on the aggression and continued to pursue Page with punches until the bell sounded. The judges ultimately gave the fight to Perry, who moves to 2-0 in BKFC since signing with the promotion.

“I said I was going to do six rounds,” Perry shouted. “I didn’t know [I was built for bare-knuckle] it but now I do. It’s definitely something I want. This is why I love it. It’s something that a lot tough guys are afraid of.

Page was determined to have an early impact on the fight. He started throwing hard at Perry with a long right-hand and he continued throwing it. Perry cut Page just as Page seemed to be getting into rhythm and dropped him with a quick right hook.

The knockdown served to let Perry know that Page was taking a new kind of punch than his opponents. It also gave Perry the opportunity to reset before moving on to round 2. Perry was blasted by Page with straight right hands, which landed hard on his chin.

Both of Perry’s shots caused him to stumble for a second, but he quickly recovered and began following Page around the ring. Perry could swing with strength behind each punch but Page did a much better job of protecting himself. Page moved fast and fired off counter shots.

Page started connecting with better consistency as he made Perry pay with his forward movement while also making his opponent miss during many of the biggest exchanges. Perry was suffering from severe swelling of his left jaw and walked out to start the fourth round.

As the clock ticked down to the last bell, Perry attempted to be a cautious man with the realization that he was nearly certain to lose on the scorecards. Perry continued to charge forward, but Page kept him from reaching his goal. Page then reacted with well-timed counters.

When the last horn was sounded the judges declared the fight a draw. This allowed BKFC, for the second time, to introduce a sixth round.

That round saw Perry as the more active fighter, launching bombs at Page’s head and coming after him with non-stop aggression. The extra time didn’t help Page either as he started to slow down while losing steam and as a result his output diminished.

Perry won the majority vote and is now looking to fight Page for the title.

“The next one let me call out real quick — Jake Paul you need an opponent,” Perry said. “You need a money fight, I’m the real money fight. Maybe you won’t be afraid to come in here .”

As for Page, he was wearing a mouse under his eye and blood streaming out his nose but he took the loss in stride with hopes that he could return to bare-knuckle again one day, although his next stop is almost assuredly back with Bellator.

” I have to admit Mike Perry, he was a bit underestimated,” Page stated. “A tough man. I thought I landed a little bit more but it doesn’t matter, I didn’t make it decisive in the judges’ eyes. While I do have obligations, would be my ideal .
