Miami police investigate shooting at Jorge Masvidal’s home

The Miami Police Department is investigating a shooting incident at Jorge Masvidal’s home in which one person was shot.

According to a police report, last Thursday at 15:00 local time, a police squad arrived on a call and found representatives of the fire and rescue service at the scene providing first aid to an injured man who was wounded in the arm.

“According to the victim, he was involved in an altercation during which his opponent took out a firearm and shot him,” Detective Chris Thomas was quoted as saying by MMA Fighting. The injured man was taken to the hospital in a stable condition.

“The suspect has been taken into custody. Relations between the parties to the conflict have not been confirmed, however, all the people in the house know each other. The owner of the house is Jorge Masvidal, who was not present there and was not involved in the conflict.”

The police assert that other persons who were at this moment in the house, have not suffered. The identities of the suspect and victim have not been released.

Last month, 38-year-old Jorge Masvidal announced his retirement from professional football after suffering his fourth consecutive defeat against Gilbert Burns. The former UFC welterweight title contender has not yet made any statements regarding the shooting at his home.
