McGregor’s comeback: veteran from Africa went the whole distance

Newcastle Arena, Newcastle, England. As part of the show, Scottish prospect Lee McGregor (12-0-1, 9 KOs) resumed his career – he has not entered the ring since February last year. In the second bantamweight limit (up to 55.3 kg), he coped with the middle-aged gatekeeper from Burkina Faso, Alexis Kabore (29-8, 8 KOs).

The fight began at a leisurely pace. The favorite gave the guest the center of the ring: he intercepted attacks, punched a lot in the body, tried to counter with a left hook, launched nice crosses several times.

In the 3rd round, McGregor tried to box more aggressively. He imposed a fight at a medium distance. The African picked up blows to the body, but continued to slowly crush the opponent and forced the favorite to back away. Kabore is a very respectable gatekeeper who lost ahead of schedule only in his first fight on profiring.

The African solidly worked out in defense with body movements, which significantly complicated the task of the puncher. And after the equator, I even got a little bolder – I tried to combine, more than once brought my fist to the goal.

McGregor stepped up in the 7th round – he finally began to invest in punches. The veteran is tired. In the final three minutes, he mostly clinched.

The fight went the whole distance, and the referee even gave one round to the underdog – 79-74.

McGregor PTS 8.
