Marlon Vera accused Sean O’Malley of refusing to take the fight

UFC lightweight division number six Marlon Vera, who received a challenge from Sean O’Malley after the American managed to snatch the title from his compatriot Aljamain Sterling, has revealed that the new division champion has dropped the idea of fighting him before the end of the year.

“At this point, nobody has talked to me yet,” the Ecuadorian fighter told the press and fans in Las Vegas. “I’m preparing like I have a fight in December. As for O’Malley, the guy talked a lot about the fight, but now he’s backed off. I think if you’re a champion you can pick your fights, so let’s see what this s**** really wants.”

“I keep training, keep getting better, keep in better shape. I need to be a little bit faster and a little bit more technical than I was in the first fight, that’s all I need. He’s a good fighter, he has the belt, but make no mistake about it – I’m going to kick his ass again.”

Recall that three years ago, Marlon Vera inflicted the only defeat of his career on Sean O’Malley, finishing him by technical knockout in the first round. According to the champ’s plan, his rematch with “Cheeto” was scheduled to take place on December 16 at UFC 296 in Las Vegas.
