Makhachev’s reaction to the training of Volkanovski and Taysumov

The current UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, commented on the information that his opponent, Alexander Volkanovski, is actively working on wrestling techniques with Russian Mairbek Taysumov, whom he invited to his training camp.

“I’m a good wrestler because I’m from Dagestan,” Makhachev told ESPN. “Dagestan is the best wrestling republic in the world. We are a small republic, but we have many Olympic champions, and wrestling is our traditional sport. Ask anyone, stop any taxi driver, and he will tell you that he fought”

“When we were kids, we started wrestling on the street, anywhere. That is why all fighters from Dagestan have good wrestling skills. You can’t prepare in a couple of months for a fight with a fighter who fights well. For this you need to fight all your life”

“Wrestling is not kickboxing or boxing – you can improve your punching technique in a few months, but to improve in wrestling you have to fight all your life. It’s my opinion”

Recall that the lightweight title fight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski will be the main event of the UFC 284 tournament, which will be held on February 11 in Perth, Australia.
