Former world super middleweight champion David Benavidez (26-0, 23 KOs) is ready to move up to the light heavyweight category (up to 79.4 kg) to fight the winner of the upcoming fight between WBA Super champion Russian Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) and Mexican Gilberto Ramirez (44-0, 30 KOs), which will be held on November 5 in Abu Dhabi (UAE).

“Damn, yes, I’m 100 percent for this option,” Benavidez answered the question if he would like to meet the winner of the Bivol-Ramirez fight.

Interestingly, David wants his buddy Ramirez to win, but friendship obviously won’t stop them from stepping into the ring to hit each other in the head (and other body parts).

“It’s a really tough fight with a lot of unknowns and it’s going to be really tough for Gilberto. But to be honest, I drown for him. He is my boyfriend, I love him to death,” admitted Benavidez.

Recall that at the moment David owns the title of “interim” WBC champion at 76.2 kg, being the mandatory challenger for the absolute champion of the division Canelo Alvarez.

De La Hoya has previously explained why Canelo would never fight Benavidez.
