Lopez accepted Garcia’s challenge. But not the way you imagined it

Former undisputed lightweight champion American Teofimo Lopez (16-1, 12 KOs) will make his debut in a new division on the weekend – on August 13, in the super-light limit in Las Vegas (USA), he will fight against the Mexican middle peasant Pedro Campa (34-1 -1, 23 KOs).

It is possible that very soon Lopez will measure his strength with another recent debutant in 63.5 kg, compatriot Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs). At least this was announced the other day by promoter Oscar De La Hoya (Golden Boy Promotions).

Lopez was asked to comment on Garcia’s “challenge”. Teofimo accepted him as expected, but at the same time
did not mention the name of the “caller”: “To be honest, to be completely honest, I am ready to take on any challenge. Yes, I am ready to fight with all the tops. Don’t forget, I talked about this from the very beginning. Only the best and nothing else. Remember, I said that I was preparing a “coup” here? So, nothing has changed.”

In November last year, Lopez sensationally lost to Australian George Cambosos. He claims that there were reasons for this. As you may have guessed, Teofimo mentioned them again: “My body has been screaming for me for a long time that it was time to drop from light weight. I will definitely never go back there. Now I’m working on functional, I want to achieve top stamina so that what happened in the battle with Kambosos does not happen again. I had a tear in my chest, a tear in my esophagus. In that fight I had bronchitis and early stages of pneumonia. Everything was seething in my chest, it seemed that it would explode.

“I am an artist. I’m here to entertain people. I am very frank with them. And after the victory I can fortnite dance. And I also avoid problems in life, which, you see, is also important, ”says Lopez.
