Isaac Cruz Sr., father of lightweight “Pitbull” Isaac Cruz (24-2-1, 17 KOs), says he is not interested in his son’s fight with former world champion Shakur Stevenson (19-0, 9 KOs) due to boring style the last one. He prefers his offspring to fight another top Vassily Lomachenko (17-2, 11 KOs) because it’s “an easier fight”.
“I would rather see how my son fights Lomachenko – this is an easier fight, and we will win ahead of schedule [Василия]”, – said the father of Isaac.
Judging by the way Lomachenko looked against Jemaine Ortiz in late October, such considerations are valid.
And the fight with Shakur, Cruz Sr. added, “would be incredibly boring because of running around the ring like a dog after a cat.”
Romero wants to fight Cruz
“We will probably earn more by meeting other fighters,” Padre Cruz argued why they were not interested in Stevenson.
The other day, the World Boxing Council ordered Cruz and Stevenson to fight and determine the contender for the fight with the absolute division Devin Haney. Shakur said no problem, but his promoter hit the brakes.
Earlier, Cruz Sr. spoke in more detail about why his son would beat Lomachenko.
