Logan Paul is still interested in making his MMA debut, but he’s not foolish enough to want any problems with Khamzat Chimaev.
Paul, a YouTube star and podcaster, has been a prominent figure in combat sports due to his involvement with boxing and pro wrestling. But for the past few months, the elder Paul brother has hinted at an interest in trying his luck at MMA. The matter was brought up by the elder brother to UFC President Dana White who stated that he is open to discussing the possibility. One of UFC’s brightest young stars, Dana White, raised the issue.
I’m waiting for you in UFC @LoganPaul

But Paul knows better than to go picking a fight with Khamzat Chimaev. Paul briefly trained at Chimaev’s home gym in 2019 while he was preparing for his professional boxing debut against fellow YouTuber KSI. Paul claimed he was recording music in Sweden and went to Allstars. This is where he met Chimaev for the first time.
“I’m very familiar with his work,” Paul told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour. “I went to Sweden to train for a couple weeks, and I went to this gym, and I looked over and there was this guy kind of staring at me. Big beard, looked like a badass. This was Gustafsson’s training ground. [Allstars MMA] Months later, Khamzat Chimiaev, an unknown fighter, is running an amazing UFC fight. I was like “Oh my god, that’s the guy who was mean-mugging me at that gym in central Sweden !'”
Paul stated that, while they never trained together in person, he is well aware of how dangerous a fighter Chimaev can be and the foolishness of fighting him in the UFC. However, he would be willing to box him, if the UFC would allow.
” I just came to the gym and sparred with a few of their guys,” Paul stated. They wouldn’t allow me to spar Khamzat. He’s not a f ****** canine. I’m not doing MMA with him. I’d box him for sure. I’d be more than happy to box him, but that’s the problem, all these UFC guys are locked up. They’re locked up. So it’s hard to get a fight with any of them.”
Chimaev also said he would box Paul and beat Logan in one night. Chimaev has many other tasks at the moment. This Saturday, “Borz” will face the toughest test of his MMA career when he fights Gilbert Burns in a featured welterweight bout at UFC 273.
