“Like Holyfield and Bow.” Usyk-Fury Super Series Winning Coach

British tutor Joe Gallagherwho won the final of the first season of the World Boxing Super Series with WBA super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Callum Smith, gave
interview for local media.

In a conversation with a journalist, the coach expressed his opinion about a possible fight for the four main heavyweight belts (over 90.7 kg) between the IBF / WBO / WBA title holder Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) and the WBC champion from Britain Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs). Gallagher is sure of Fury’s superiority over the Ukrainian champion, but does not call for Usyk to be written off in a possible duel.

– Everything looks like a duel between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury will take place, provided that people find a lot of money for the fighters. How do you see this fight going?

— I am a big fan of Oleksandr Usyk. People say it can be a boring fight. I don’t see how it can be boring. It seems to me that sooner or later Usyk can snatch a piece, he must go for it. It will turn out a duel like Evander Holyfield – Riddick Bowe. Tyson Fury as Riddick Bowe – big long arms, mobility, fast hands. I think he can easily switch to this kind of fight. But I’m sure Tyson Fury will be the bigger fighter, a good big fighter who beats the smaller one. And not only this. He has better mobility, better jab, better IQ in the ring. He will pin Usyk to the ropes, kiss him, and then one more time. Usyk can’t breathe. Joshua did not let him breathe, but he did not throw anything away, and Tyson will throw it out. This is a big difference. So Usyk will be able to move and leave, but will not be able to handle what will arrive. I think Joshua had one round 9 when he threw 20 punches out of which 4 or 5 landed. Tyson will throw them from the first round. I just think it will be a good fight.

But, at the same time, you can’t write off Usyk because Tyson has always suffered from small fighters like Cunningham. Usyk is capable of punching and brings art to the ring. But I always agree that a good big fighter beats a good little one. And I just think that Tyson’s boxing IQ, flexibility, mobility, skill set is just too much for Usyk.
