Eddie Hearn, the promoter of former British heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs), does not believe that the current WBC title holder Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) is really ready to fight his ward before the end of the current year.
But if they do get a written offer and the terms are acceptable, Eddie assured Joshua would be happy to get in the ring with Tyson.
“Fury is unbelievably good at delivering complete bullshit to the public,” Hearn notes. “And I’m worried about what people believe when you look at the last two or three weeks. This is incredibly weird. Personally, I don’t believe Fury is serious (with the offer to fight Joshua), but if I’m wrong, we will 100% sit down at the negotiating table and make the fight, which I have already informed[Fury’s promoter]Warren.”

“I would love to be ecstatic (if it worked out) because this fight is the one I get asked most on the street and Joshua has wanted it for a long time. Don’t forget that we already signed up for this fight last year, before the court ordered Fury to fight Wilder for the third time, Eddie recalls. “We were planning to come back in December and then re-enter the ring in March, pick up the pace and then try to fight for the world title. I doubt that Fury is serious, but in order for the fight to take place, let’s still believe him.
“We didn’t expect this opportunity, but this is a great opportunity to fight for the world title in the biggest fight in boxing and we will definitely consider it. We are waiting for a specific proposal from Warren, and I pass it on to AJ. He is ready to fight,” concluded the promoter.
Meanwhile, renowned coach and analyst Teddy Atlas spoke out about Fury’s choice: “Joshua over Usyk? Absolutely smart solution.”
