Leon Edwards responded about the fight with Islam Makhachev

The current UFC welterweight champion, Leon Edwards, answered the question of what he thinks about the superfight with Islam Makhachev, who in an interview told how he dominated the Briton in sparring at the American Kickboxing Academy.

“We did spar, but I don’t think he submitted me in training,” Edwards said in an interview with reporters. “I think it will be a good fight. He improved his striking, I improved my wrestling, so it will be a completely different fight.”

“We trained together when I was 21-22 years old and now I’m 31, so it’s two completely different confrontations. It doesn’t bother me at the moment because I have a very difficult fight against Kamaru Usman and I’m focused on that. After that – no problem, I’m ready to do it”

Recall that on February 11 at UFC 284 in Perth, Islam Makhachev will defend the UFC lightweight title against Alexander Volkanovski, and the title rematch of Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman on March 18 will head the UFC 286 tournament in London.

Islam Makhachev and Leon Edwards are currently ranked second and third in the P4P UFC rankings, respectively.
