Leon Edwards promises to shock Colby Covington

Reigning UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards has shared his thoughts on his upcoming fight with American Colby Covington, with whom he is set to share the octagon in a week’s time.

“It’s his fourth title shot and he knows it’s his last fight for the belt,” the Brit told UFC Europe. “There’s a lot on the line for me, too, because I’ve been coming to this for so long and I feel like we both have a lot to prove. I’m one hundred percent focused on bettering Colby, who will be facing me after an almost two-year absence.”

“However, I don’t see Colby being able to do that. I’ve been active, I’m younger, and he hasn’t beaten anyone under 35-36 years old. Judging by his wins over Lawler, Woodley and Masvidal, he’s going to be in for a complete shock with what happens this evening. I’m focused on going out there, beating him, defending my belt, and continuing my journey, and he’s just another guy that’s in my way that I’m going to tear down”

As a reminder, the welterweight title fight between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington will be the main event of UFC 296, which takes place on Dec. 16 in Las Vegas.
