“Lazy and weak.” Legend says it’s time for Golovkin to quit boxing

The legendary Roberto Duran is dissatisfied with the main event of the past weekend: in Las Vegas (USA), Kazakhstani veteran Gennady Golovkin (42-2-1, 37 KOs) completed the trilogy without sparkle with Mexican Saul Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs), losing in a duel for the title of absolute super middleweight champion.

Alvarez vs. Golovkin: The red-haired superhero Jagganath – a report about this event

The previous fights between the antagonists were much more beautiful: in 2017 everything ended in a controversial draw, and 12 months later, in one of the best fights of the decade, the Mexican was slightly better. Those fights were at middleweight.

Duran for real dissatisfied both participants in the fight: “I thought that Canelo would impose a little more pressure and try to delay Golovkin. But he didn’t wait. Golovkin? It’s time for him to retire. And not only because of the next defeat of Canelo. He’s just not the same as he used to be. I saw laziness and weakness in him. His boxing IQ didn’t help him. He didn’t think in the ring the way he used to. And in boxing, you really have to think all the time.”

Did you like the fight? Here is the reaction to the main event of September of the boxing community and separately the reaction of Vasily Lomachenko. Canelo explains why he didn’t knock Golovkin out. And the loser suddenly declared: I’m still a champion, guys. And Canelo is a real warrior.
