Kownacki set a goal – to become a world champion “in 1-2 years”

Polish heavyweight (over 90.7 kg) Adam Kownacki (20-2, 15 KOs) is trying not to lose heart after two early defeats in a row, continues to eat well and promises to return to winning trails on July 30 at the Barclays Center in his native Brooklyn, USA. There he will face Ali Eren Demirezen (16-1, 12 KOs) in a 10-round bout.

The chubby 33-year-old puncher sees the fight as a chance to get out of the black stripe, and immediately into the near-tops in order to get to the title as quickly as possible.

He says – “I still want to become the first Polish heavyweight champion in the world.”

“I could have gone for some simpler fight, but I needed a tough guy. Beating someone like Ali will get me back in the game. That’s where I want to be,” the Pole said at a press conference. — We are on the right track. Yes, I hit a bump in the road, but on July 30 I will go out for victory. My goal is to win a world title in the next year or two.”

Kownacki: I looked at Klitschko’s footwork and thought – wow!

Kownacki came into the fight with Robert Helenius in early March 2020 and was rather unexpectedly scored in the 4th round. It was the last major fight in boxing before the coronavirus pandemic. After 19 months, they met again – and the Scandinavian “stopped” the Pole again, this time in the 6th round by disqualification.

In early summer, Adam pulled out of a fight with Chisora. A year ago, he even threatened a record belly.
