Chi Health Center, Omaha, USA. In the featherweight limit (up to 57.2 kg), Ukrainian Arnold Khegay (19-1-1, 11 KOs) defeated the Mexican ex-challenger Eduardo Baez (21-4-2, 7 KOs).
Khegai relied on power boxing: he sat down low, approaching his opponent, butting him with his head several times. At close range, he was more effective and more dangerous. He pinched at the ropes, and then he had hooks on the body, launched sweeping overhands. Baez was the soloist at a long distance.
Both fighters were pretty dirty. Both often appealed to the third in the ring. The referee was not very good at controlling the course of the fight: either he was late with decisions, or he intervened when there was no need for it.
A potentially strong fight turned out to be a little chaotic, and the number of fouls from Khegai could only be compared with dirty boxing master Josh Warrington. The referee behaved at the same time in much the same way as his colleague did in Leeds.
In the 9th round, the Ukrainian was still taken off the test score, but this did not stop him from winning: 96-93 and 95-94 against 94-95 in favor of Baez.
Khegai SD 10.
