Khamzat Chimaev turned to Sean Strickland

The UFC’s No. 9 ranked middleweight, Hamzat Chimaev, addressed former division champion Sean Strickland, recalling the experience of training with the American.

“Ask Strickland, who was beating him in the gym every day?” the Chechen fighter said in an interview with ESPN. “How many times did I sub him? How many times did I beat him up? He ended up going to his trainer, ‘Please tell this guy to work easier.’ He’s trying to make himself look macho, but you ain’t macho, man!”

“When I pinned you hard, you went to complain to your coach. I was beating you up and you were running from me. I was in his town, in his gym. Nobody ever came to my gym and tried to beat me up. I went to all these guys, all these gyms. I’m not afraid of anybody, I beat everybody. I don’t remember losing sparring sessions – I always win.”

“Borz” also said he wants to share the octagon with South African Dricus Du Plessis, who took the championship belt from Strickland last weekend, on April 13 at UFC 300 in Las Vegas, or come out for a double fee to fight against any top fighter in the division.

Given the circumstances, a bout between Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland would be a nice addition to the anniversary event.
