Khamzat Chimaev has decided on the next opponent

Despite UFC President Dana White making it clear he’s not thrilled with the idea of a fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Kamaru Usman, the Chechen fighter wants the Nigerian as his next opponent.

“Kamaru Usman,” Borz wrote on the social media, ticking off the name of a potential adversary who previously challenged him.

The former UFC welterweight champion announced his desire to fight Chimaev ten days ago, suggesting that this fight could have contender status.

“I think I should fight Khamzat and if Leon keeps winning we’ll have a fourth fight,” Nigerian Nightmare told ESPN.

In August last year, Kamaru Usman lost the UFC championship belt to Leon Edwards by a fifth-round knockout, and seven months later he was defeated in an immediate rematch with the British, whom he lost by a majority of the judges’ votes.

Khamzat Chimaev is on a six win streak in the UFC and is rumored to have his next fight on October 21 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi against Brazilian Paulo Costa. The other day, the fighter representing Sweden refuted the statement of the UFC president, who said that Chimaev’s long downtime was due to his personal problems, and not to difficulties in organizing the fight for him.

Currently, Kamaru Usman and Khamzat Chimaev occupy the first and fourth lines in the UFC welterweight rankings, respectively.
