Khamzat Chimaev gave a response to UFC champion Sean Strickland

Popular Chechen fighter Khamzat Chimaev, who was officially announced as the next challenger for the UFC middleweight title this past weekend, responded to current division champion Sean Strickland, who called his title shot undeserved.

“Sean Strickland, don’t worry – you’re next. You know how fast I can finish you,” Chimaev wrote on social media, referring to the American.

In doing so, Chimaev hinted to Strickland about the experience of training together, which was part of the Borza training camp in the United States.

Last weekend at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi, undefeated Hamzat Chimaev earned his seventh victory in the world’s strongest league with a three-round majority decision win over former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Eleven days earlier, the Nigerian had agreed to fight the Chechen at middleweight, replacing Paulo Costa, who had pulled out due to illness.

Sean Strickland authored one of the most high-profile upsets in MMA history early last month, defeating Israel Adesanya in dominant fashion by unanimous decision to take the championship belt from him.
