Khamzat Chimaev broke Jiri Prochazka’s rib

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka has confirmed that Khamzat Chimaev broke his rib in a sparring match at the Swedish club Allstars Training Center.

The Czech fighter spoke about this when answering a related question from a fan on a social network.

“Chimaev said he broke your rib in sparring so he can be king of the light heavyweight division if he wants to,” the fan wrote.

“It’s true, but the rib was not completely broken, and in sparring I didn’t even notice it. But it doesn’t matter – I know how the sparring went, so I’m calm. It was a good sparring that I took. Hamzat is good, but sparring with Gustafsson was better,” Prochazka replied.

Jiří Prochazka is currently recovering from a shoulder injury that forced him to vacate the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship and plans to return to the octagon this summer.

As for Khamzat Chimaev, who is ranked third in the UFC welterweight division, he expects to fight next in the spring, but so far the organization’s matchmakers have not been able to find an opponent for him.
