WBC Franchise, WBA Super, IBF and WBO lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg) Australian George Kambosos (20-0, 10 KOs) advises American WBC title holder Devin Haney (27-0, 15 KOs) not overestimate their importance by claiming that Kambosos was allegedly forced to agree to a duel under pressure.
The Australian noted that he himself chose Haney as a rival, guided by the desire to fight the best.
Recall that their fight is scheduled for June 5 in Melbourne (Australia).
“Everything is super, my concentration is at the maximum, I am extremely focused. Had another hell of a sparring session this morning,” says George. – I’m running on all cylinders. And they are not 8, as it was against Teofimo Lopez, now I am on ten cylinders, so I feel great. More like June 5th.
“Actually, I could fight anyone, because Haney is not my mandatory challenger,” recalls the champion. “So when he says he made me do it, in some way or other?” You’re not my mandatory challenger, and I could say, “Nah, I’m going to fight Joe Blow, who works in the warehouse next door,” if I wanted to. And I would still sell the whole arena.”
“No, man, it was you who was chosen,” Kambosos emphasized, “so just be here on June 5th. I want to keep hitting the best because that’s what inspires and motivates me. The thing that makes me get out of bed.”
Earlier it became known that Haney’s father was not allowed into Australia due to drugs, and Kambosos is making plans for the fall / winter.
