Joyce’s chin or Zhilei’s plop? Hearn winds up intrigue

Interim WBO heavyweight champion Briton Joe Joyce (15-0, 14 KOs) may face unforeseen trouble in his upcoming fight against Chinese Zhang Zhilei (24-1-1, 19 KOs), despite the fact that is an absolute favourite.

Given Joe’s propensity for defensive overthinking, as well as Zhilei’s solid punching power, things could turn out a lot more unexpected than expected.

This opinion was expressed by British promoter Eddie Hearn.

“Zhang is at the end of his career, but he can hit, and you can’t take that away from him,” Hearn said. — My opinion: anyone, including Zhilei, will have a hard time with Joyce’s workrate. And Joe runs over Zhang. But Zhang can slap, and Joyce, as always, will be open to a blow to the chin. Yes, people are constantly talking about how strong Joyce’s beard is. But the truth is, he has never crossed paths with a big puncher in the ring, except for Daniel Dubois, who never managed to hit him on the chin.

Recall that the Joyce-Zhilei fight is scheduled for April 15 in London (England).

It seems not for nothing that Joyce is threatened with “Chinese power”.
