The “interim” WBO heavyweight champion Briton Joe Joyce (15-0, 14 KOs) admits that it will be difficult for him to cope with the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) in their possible fight, but at the same time he already imagines how exactly he will tip the scales in his favor.
“He (Usyk) is a tough boxer and I’m going after him,” Joyce said. – It will be a bright fight, because he will be able to compete with me for all 12 rounds. He showed it against Joshua. But the difference is that Joshua didn’t throw as many punches as I do.”
“With Usyk, everything will come down to the accuracy of the strikes,” the Briton believes. “He sets traps, he’s a very cunning boxer with good footwork who moves his head and shuttles to avoid punches, so it’s pretty hard to hit him. In other words, you can have all the power you want, but if you don’t hit, then it doesn’t make any sense.”
“The good news for me is that I’m throwing a huge variety of punches, many of which will go through and wear him down at 12 rounds. I am sure that after a certain point he will no longer be able to resist this, ”Jo took and gave out his simple plan.
Recall that Usyk, who holds the WBA / WBO / IBF titles, should fight for the title of absolute champion against another Briton, WBC title holder Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) next fight. Although the contract has not yet been signed.
And Joyce is planning his big fight in the summer – of course, with Usyk or Fury.
