Australian heavyweight (over 90.7 kg) Demsey McKean (22-0, 14 KOs) claims he is “one of the leaders” in the list of candidates for an April 1 fight with former world champion Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) . Southpaw was one of AJ’s main sparring men prior to his fights against Oleksandr Usyk.
Demsey says that in training camps with Joshua, he “gives him the job of sparring.”
“I know that sparring is not a fight, but I always fight better in a fight. Yes, this is a huge jump in the level of opponents, but I am confident in myself. After all, we’re here to fight the best, aren’t we? I’m going to win this fight and I’ll be surprised if it comes down to scoring.”
declared Mackin.
