British ex-world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) wants to fight at least one megafight in 2023, naming compatriot and reigning WBC champion Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) or American ex-champion Deontay Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs). Or maybe even both at once.
Recall that the return of Joshua after two consecutive defeats on points from the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk is scheduled for April 1 in London. His opponent will be American Jermain Franklin.
“In 2023 I want to fight Fury or Wilder. With each of them you will get a good fight in which you will have to work hard. But definitely either Fury or Wilder or both in 2023,” Joshua said.
Anthony is sure that despite the words of Fury, according to which the probability of their fight has died completely and irrevocably, such a fight cannot be excluded from the agenda.
“I believe in my heart that this story is not over,” Joshua admitted. – if you listen to what Fury says, he always has one thing, then another. However, I am sure that he will fight me. I don’t think his father would let him avoid a fight with me. His dad is a normal guy, I like him. So yes, we will fight.”
We add that in the event of a victory over Franklin in the summer, Joshua is very likely to have a rematch against compatriot Dillian Whyte. Obviously, in this case, both Fury and Wilder Anthony will not be enough at once.
