Joshua-Franklin fight officially announced: boxers’ statements

Today was officially announced the next fight of former world heavyweight champion British Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs). As previously reported, his opponent will be American Jermain Franklin (21-1, 14 KOs), and the fight itself will head the boxing evening on April 1 at the O2 Arena in London (England).

It is worth noting that it was at this arena that Joshua became the world champion for the first time, having taken the IBF title from Charles Martin in April 2016, and has not played here since June of that year, when he successfully defended for the first time against Dominic Breazeale.

In addition, the upcoming fight will be the first for Anthony under the guidance of a new coach – top American coach Derrick James.

“I look forward to getting into the ring on April 1st. Ready both mentally and physically,” said Joshua. “I want to put on a show and impress my coach because he has high standards. Franklin has good style and a great attitude, which he has shown in recent fights.”

“I’m ready to show the world why it’s time for me to take my place at the top of the heavyweight division,” Franklin said. Joshua’s time is over, now is my time to shock the world! This fight was not destined to reach the notes of the judges. On April 1, I will win my 22nd victory – and this is not an April joke.

Meanwhile, the British promoter believes that Joshua is under enormous pressure, and the fight with Franklin is really difficult.
