In May, British ex-heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) got into the epicenter of a scandal – he threatened to beat up students who had previously publicly hurt him.
Heavyweight doesn’t countthat he did wrong: “You know, the problem is that due to social networks and the lack of responsibility there for their words, some people lose their shores in real life. I was walking around the campus, I was in a great mood. Well, you know, when you feel complete harmony and love, you share it with passers-by, you don’t refuse anyone a photo. Everything was amazing. About the conflict. First, they were cricketers. The boys are 25 years old, they are not some kind of children and not students.
“They lived next door. Everything happened simply. I couldn’t sleep and decided to take a walk. And then I hear threats and ridicule flying at me from their room. I looked around, realized that it was addressed to me, because 4 o’clock in the morning – there was no one else. And then you know what I did. I told them: “Dudes, I work here, not play games. I was here yesterday and gave everyone my respect. If you want to play differently, no problem, I accept the challenge. But do you like walking around with a broken jaw?” Joshua recalls.
Interestingly, his brutal compatriot Derek Chisora said on this occasion: “I would have done everything differently.”
In August, in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Joshua will have a rematch with Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk – he will try to regain the WBA Super, IBF and WBO titles lost in September.
