Joshua after Usyk. Hearn on comeback date and potential rival

On August 20, in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), in a rematch, the holder of the WBA Super, IBF and WBO belts, Ukrainian heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) again defeated Briton Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) and is now aiming for a fight for the title of absolute division champion with Briton Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs), who has the WBC title missing from the complete collection.

Meanwhile, underdog promoter Eddie HearnMatchroom Boxing) already with might and main
planning Joshua’s comeback: To be honest, Anthony vs Deontay Wilder, even now, is arguably the biggest fight in the division. Yes, Usyk vs Fury is a big fight. But purely in terms of spectacle, Joshua vs Wilder or even Joshua vs Dillian Whyte would have been a lot more intense.”

“I think Joshua’s next step is to box in December or January against a top 15 fighter. And not just to box, but to demonstrate the highest level of performance, to show complete dominance. I would like it to be active. So that by the end of next year he had 4 more fights. Of those fights that simply must take place, this is a rematch with Whyte. British fans are waiting for him. I also see the fights with Wilder and Fury the same way, ”says Hearn.

Boss Matchroom Boxing previously offered Deontay a deal, but he refused. Hearn is shocked: “Let’s see how it will be. I offered him a fight in the Middle East. I contacted his team, but there was no answer. It upsets me. I don’t even know if he’s aware of my offer. If he’s not interested, then so be it. We offered White as another option for Wilder at the beginning of 2023. And we have the means to organize this duel. To me, these are the most financially attractive options for Deontay.”

Earlier, we also talked about Joshua’s options after Usyk: when and with whom the next fight. The result surprised even the author.
