Jorge Masvidal is bringing out the stars from the world of MMA for his next boxing event.
The UFC welterweight contender announced Monday on The MMA Hour that the PFL’s Anthony Pettis will face the legendary Roy Jones Jr. in the main event of Gamebred Boxing 4, which takes place April 1 at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
The eight-round bout between
Pettis and Jones will be boxing. The main event matchup pits Pettis, a former UFC lightweight champion, against the 54-year-old Jones, a four-division world champion and one of the most accomplished boxers of his generation.
” I’ve been a big fan of Roy Jones,” Masvidal stated. I have always wanted to be able to help Roy Jones. He’s going to be fighting someone that inspired me in my career numerous times. WEC champion, UFC champion, I think both his wins for the UFC title were finishes. This guy has knockouts and finishes at 145, 155, 170, it’s crazy what this guy has done in his career in MMA. Great striker.

The event will air live via pay-per view.
“Showtime” won’t be the only UFC fighter to appear on this card. Former champions Jose Aldo, Vitor Belfort and long-time MMA stars Paul Daley and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza will also be appearing. Jeremy Stephens and Pearl Gonzalez will also be included in the line up.
Aldo recently retired from MMA. He is scheduled to face Alberto Emmanuel Zambrano in his first pro boxing bout on February 10. Stephens is another UFC veteran. Stephens and Aldo will meet for the second time. Stephens defeated Aldo in July 2018. by a first-round TKO.
Belfort will be taking on Souza in a MMA-to boxing rematch. Souza defeated Belfort via strikes within a round of UFC 198.. Belfort makes this his second appearance in boxing since he defeated Evander Holyfield, a heavyweight legend, in an exhibition fight on September 2021. Jacare is making his debut boxing.
Gonzalez is a UFC, Invicta FC and BKFC veteran. She has won in both of her two first appearances under Masvidal. She defeated Ivana Coleman in the first round this November. Gonzalez fights former UFC fighter Gina Mazany on April 1.
The event will feature UFC, Bellator and Strikeforce veterans Paul Daley, who is expected to face Anthony Taylor, a boxer and fighter in MMA.
According to Masvidal, all the matchups will be pro bouts, not exhibitions.
