Jon Jones wins ESPN Fighter of the Year

The current UFC heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, won the prestigious ESPN Espy Awards in the Best UFC Fighter category.

In an open vote on the ESPN website, the American fighter beat current UFC champions Islam Makhachev and Leon Edwards, and former double UFC champion Amanda Nunes, who were also nominated in this category.

Information about the victory of Jon Jones came two days before the official awards ceremony, which will be held on July 12 in Los Angeles. The American heavyweight is also in contention for the Best Athlete Comeback Award, and Leon Edwards could be the author of the Best Championship Performance.

In March of this year, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones successfully resumed his career after a three-year hiatus, defeating Cyril Gan in two minutes to win the vacant UFC heavyweight championship belt.

Last week, UFC President Dana White officially announced that the title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic will be the main event of UFC 295, which will take place on November 11 in New York.
