Jon Jones will not fight the winner of the Pavlovic-Aspinall fight

Despite organizing a fight for the interim UFC heavyweight title between Sergey Pavlovic and Tom Aspinall, Jon Jones’ next opponent will not be the winner of this confrontation, but former division champion Stipe Miocic.

The UFC is planning that the title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic will take place next year, once the current UFC champion recovers from an injury suffered the day before. This was reported by ESPN sports columnist Mike Raimondi.

Earlier, UFC CEO Dana White officially announced that Jones tore a pectoral muscle during sparring, and the Pavlovic vs. Aspinall fight becomes the second main event of UFC 295, which takes place Nov. 11 in New York City.

A fight for the vacant UFC bantamweight championship belt between Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira, which until now had been a co-main event, is set to be the new main event of the numbered event.

Recall that in March of this year Jon Jones successfully resumed his career after a three-year hiatus, already in the first round finished by guillotine choke Cyril Gana, and won the vacant UFC heavyweight title, which was vacated by Francis Ngannou, who left the organization. The American will reportedly be recovering from surgery for about eight months.
