Jon Jones assessed the prospects of Sean O’Malley

Reigning UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who in his own words is at the end of his career, sees Sean O’Malley as someone who could replace him and Conor McGregor as the new superstar of the world’s strongest league.

“Sean O’Malley – I’m excited about him, he’s an eye-catcher,” MMAJunkie quoted Jones as saying. “He reminds me a lot of Conor McGregor. He’s direct and authentic and the ‘from dirt to dukes’ story is always very popular, especially, in this country. I really like the guy and I really want to see how far he can take it.”

“He’s still quite young and has the ability to progress quickly in this game. I think he’s going to be in the business for quite some time. He beat Aljamain in great style, although I always bet on the fighters in these fights. O’Malley looks like a complete package with everything he needs. I’ll definitely be buying pay-per-view broadcasts of his fights for the next few years”

On August 19 at UFC 292 in Boston, Sean O’Malley finished Aljamain Sterling by TKO in the second round to take the UFC flyweight championship belt from his compatriot, while Jon Jones will defend his title against Stipe Miocic on November 11 at UFC 295 in New York City, possibly ending his professional career with this fight.
