Joe Pifer cited the reason for his first loss in the UFC

Joe Peifer, who suffered his first loss under the UFC banner against Jack Hermansson, explained what happened in the third round when his opponent, who entered the octagon as a multiple underdog, was able to seize the initiative and win the fight.

“I just want to say I’m fine despite what my face looks like,” the American middleweight wrote on social media. “I wasn’t shocked. I got hit in the eye and couldn’t see. When I lost my vision, I lost the round and I couldn’t get back up. And then he moved me around and did a good job in the parterre.”

“So to all my haters – suck a fat ***. Anyway, I wasn’t supposed to be here. We’ll make adjustments and we’ll be back. Thanks to all the sponsors, and all those who support me. And yeah, good job, Jack!”

The middleweight fight, which headlined UFC Fight Night 236 in Las Vegas, went the full distance and ended with the Swedish-Norwegian fighter winning a 48-47 three-round unanimous decision.

Joe Peifer had previously earned three early victories in the UFC, and was rumored to have broken the record set by Francis Ngannou three times on a punching power simulator.
