Jiri Prochaska: “Everything I did was necessary, even the injury”

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jiří Prochaska, who is recovering from shoulder surgery, has no regrets about vacating his title and plans to regain the division lead later this summer.

“I’m working on it,” said the Czech fighter in an interview with Top Turtle MMA. “At the moment, the main goal is to restore the full amplitude of the shoulder, activate all the muscles around it, and begin to gain physical shape. I would like to come back in the summer or at the end of the summer. Doesn’t matter. Let’s see how things go – based on this, we will fight earlier or a little later, but I think this summer I will be ready and become a champion again.

“I don’t regret anything. Everything I did was necessary, even the injury. There’s a reason for everything, so I take it easy and I’m happy with how it went. When I am fully restored, I will be a champion again. I am still a champion, but I will be a champion on paper and look forward to the next challenge.”

In December last year, the organization made an unsuccessful attempt to play for the vacant belt in the duel between Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Blakhovitch, who brought the fight to a draw, and already in January, Jamal Hill became the new holder of the UFC light heavyweight title, defeating former division champion Glover Teixeira by unanimous decision.
