American welterweight (up to 66.7 kg) Jaron Ennis (30-0, 27 KOs) said that he could have had a better fight against Ukrainian Karen Chukhadzhyan (21-2, 11 KOs), which took place on January 8 in the USA.
Recall that the fight for the vacant title of “interim” IBF world champion lasted the entire 12-round distance and ended with Jaron’s victory on points by unanimous decision. The American (as, in fact, the Ukrainian) for the first time spent 36 minutes in the ring and interrupted the 19-match streak of early victories.
Report from vRINGe: Ennis-Chukhadjian: He doesn’t bark, he bites!
“There are a lot of things I could do better,” says Ennis. – For example, it’s a little better to cut the corners of the ring, to act a little sharper, not to chase a knockout. I didn’t have to aim for an early victory, I just had to have fun, as I did in the middle rounds. But since Monday, I’m back in the gym to get better.”
In turn, Ennis’ trainer accused Chukhadzhyan of not knocking him out. But she and Jaron are still glad they couldn’t beat Karen.
