Jared Cannonier ready to insure Israel Adesanya’s title shot

If Jared Kannonier is not offered a challenger fight with Khamzat Chimaev, the top American middleweight who defeated Marvin Vettori last weekend is ready to insure a fight against the reigning division champion, Israel Adesanya, who will defend the title on September 9 at UFC 293 in Sydney.

“I will be more than happy to take this opportunity,” quotes the American MMAJunkie. “Even if I don’t go to the fight, I will get paid, and that’s good. So, I’ll gladly do it. I would love to visit Sydney – I have never been to Australia and always wanted to do it”

Israel Adesanya’s next opponent will be determined on July 8 at UFC 290 in Las Vegas in a Candidates bout between Robert Whittaker and Dricus Du Plessis.

The middleweight bout between Jared Cannonier and Marvin Vettori, who headlined UFC on ESPN 47 in Las Vegas last weekend, went all the way to win the American via unanimous decision, 48-46 and 49-45 twice.

Last July, Cannonier made an unsuccessful attempt to take away the championship belt from Adesanya, having suffered a unanimous decision loss.
