Jan Blachowicz clarified the situation on the fight with Paulo Costa

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz has commented on reports that his fight against Paulo Costa could be on the UFC 288 card in Newark on May 6.

According to the Polish fighter, the UFC really wanted to organize this fight, however, Blachowicz claims that Costa refused the offer to share the octagon with him.

“A few days ago Kostya was offered to fight me. I said YES, he said NO. The fight has been cancelled. How much juice does he need? One bottle of wine is enough to knock this guy out,” Blachowicz wrote on the social network.

According to Kosta’s version, which he voiced earlier, both sides agreed to the fight, and the details are currently being discussed. At the same time, the Brazilian assured that the fight with Blachowicz does not cancel the fight with Khamzat Chimaev scheduled for October.

Paulo Costa got his career back on track last August after two straight losses with a unanimous decision win over Luke Rockhold. Prior to that, the Brazilian lost by TKO to Israel Adesanya and unanimous decision to Marvin Vettori.

Jan Blachowicz made an unsuccessful bid for the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship in December, drawing a five-round title fight with Magomed Ankalaev.
