UFC Fight Night 200 Main Event
The fight will take place on February 6 in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) at the UFC Apex sports complex and will become the main event of the UFC Fight Night 200 tournament. The estimated start of the fight is 04:30 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.
The title card will feature two middleweight fighters who are half a step away from making it into the contender pool. These are the 6th numbered Jack Hermansson (22-6) and the 7th numbered Sean Strickland (24-3).
Hermansson in December 2020 missed the chance to come close to the Candidates fight, losing by decision to Marvin Vettori. In May, the Swedish fighter closed the loss with a unanimous decision victory. Since then, Hermansson has not competed in MMA, but in November he lost a grappling match to Khamzat Chimaev.
Often accused of having a bad temper, Strickland is on a five win streak. Sean hasn’t fought since July after winning a unanimous decision over Urijah Hall. In November at UFC 268, Strickland was scheduled to fight former UFC champion Luke Rockhold, but Rockhold pulled out of the fight due to a herniated disc.
Hermansson is an excellent fighter who feels like a fish in water on the ground, but at the same time, he won exactly half of his victories by knockout. Strickland, on the other hand, is a pronounced striker with a delivered blow. On the surface, Tarzan does not act so confidently.
There is every reason to believe that Hermansson will bet on his fight, in the UFC he managed to finish with moves from Kelvin Gastelum, David Branch and Gerald Meerschaert. However, Strickland defends well against takedowns. If the American does not make gross mistakes and he succeeds in avoiding the stalls, then he is able to beat Hermansson in the standing position by a referee’s decision.
