It will be easier than with Davis. Romero Wants to Fight ‘Pit Bull’ Cruz

The American lightweight Rolando Romero (14-1, 12 KOs) does not want to trade for walk-through fights after the first defeat in his career.

Recall that at the end of May, Romero was knocked out in the sixth round of the fight against Gervonta Davis, but the painful failure does not interfere with the plans of the victim to rapidly return to prominent positions in the division.

According to the trainer of the boxer Cromwell Gordon, they would gladly enter the ring with the Mexican “Pitbull” Isaac Cruz (24-2-1, 17 KOs).

“We would like to get a rematch (with Davis) and if not then fight someone who wants to fight us. There are not so many applicants, and since Cruz is one of them, he is a possible opponent, Gordon notes. “I think it’s a good fight. Even very good. And I think it would sell well. And this fight will be easier than with Davis, because it would be a bone-to-bone cut, and Rolly hits harder than any of these guys. If you stand right in front of Rollie, then you’re just a punching bag.”

It is worth noting that Cruz also fought Davis and suffered a controversial points loss in December 2021. Since then, Isaac entered the ring twice and stopped Yuriorkis Gamboa (TKO 5) with Eduardo Ramirez (KO 2).

Previously, Romero shared his prediction for a possible fight between Davis and Ryan Garcia.
