This was reported by renowned sports columnist Ariel Helwani.
“I’ve asked repeatedly about whether Izzy can fight at UFC 300 and I’ve been told repeatedly – he’s not ready,” MMAMania quoted the reporter as saying. “Maybe now the UFC will tell him – what do we have to do to get you to fight at UFC 300? I don’t know.”
Last weekend, Dricus Du Plessis took the UFC middleweight championship belt from Sean Strickland by defeating the American by split decision at UFC 297 in Toronto, before challenging Israel Adesanya, offering the former champion a return to the octagon.
The Nigerian responded by saying that his fight with the South African was destined to happen, promising to once again rewrite the history of the middleweight division, where the championship belt has changed hands four times in the last fifteen months.
As a reminder, the UFC 300 anniversary event will take place on April 13 in Las Vegas and remains without a main event for now.
