Islam Makhachev reacts to Movsar Yevloyev’s willful victory at UFC 297

Reigning UFC lightweight champion and the organization’s best fighter regardless of weight class, Islam Makhachev, did not ignore the successful performance of his compatriot Movsar Yevloev, who scored a hard-fought victory over Britain’s Arnold Allen at UFC 297 in Toronto.

“Congrats bro! Car,” the Russian wrote on social media. “Never give up. Go, Movsar!”

The featherweight bout between Movsar Yevloyev and Arnold Allen went the full distance and ended with the Russian fighter winning by unanimous 29-28 two round decision.

In the third round Allen hit Evloyev with four banned knee strikes and severely cut his head, but the undefeated Russian showed character and took the fight to the end, recording his eighteenth professional victory.

After the match Movsar Yevloyev said he would like to see the winner of the title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Elijah Topuria, who will headline UFC 298 in Anaheim on February 17, as his next opponent.
