Islam Makhachev confirms opponent Umar Nurmagomedov

The current UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, has confirmed that his friend and teammate, Umar Nurmagomedov, will face American Corey Sandhagen in the next fight.

“Umar Nurmagomedov, 5 rounds, main event,” Makhachev wrote on the social network, posting a photo of Nurmagomedov and Sandhagen.

At the same time, Nurmagomedov himself announced where exactly the fight would take place.

“The story continues,” the Russian fighter wrote, posting a photo of the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas.

The day before, well-known sportswriter Ariel Helwani reported that the duel between Nurmagomedov and Sandhagen was in development, although a few days earlier the Russian announced that he already had a fight.

27-year-old Umar Nurmagomedov is on a four-fight streak in the UFC, knocking out Raoni Barcelos in the last fight in the first round, and 31-year-old Corey Sandhagen won two fights in a row, defeating Song Yadong by technical knockout and a split decision by Marlon Vera.

Currently, Corey Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov are ranked fourth and eleventh in the UFC bantamweight division, respectively.
