Islam Makhachev called a former rival a sack

Reigning UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev let loose a barb on his former rival, Dan Hooker, who baselessly accused the Russian of violating the organization’s anti-doping policy.

“My drip bag,” Makhachev wrote on social media, posting a photo of the final moment of the fight with the New Zealander.

“Merry Christmas, s****,” Hooker replied.

In February of this year, Islam Makhachev successfully defended the UFC lightweight championship belt by defeating Alexander Volkanovski by unanimous decision at UFC 284 in Perth, after which Dan Hooker, who is a member of the Australian’s team, publicly called the Russian a fraud, accusing him of using banned saline drips.

In the end, Volkanovski’s team presented no evidence, and the Australian Athletic Commission and the UFC officially stated that they had no claims against Makhachev. Two months ago, the Russian fighter made another title defense, knocking out Volkanovski at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi.

Dan Hooker, ranked ninth in the UFC lightweight rankings, lost to Islam Makhachev by kimura in the first round in October 2021, and then fought three more fights, losing by TKO to Arnold Allen, defeating Claudio Puelles by TKO, and winning by split decision over Jalin Turner.
