Is Eubank vs. Benn like Golovkin vs. Brook? Hearn responded to comparisons

As we reported the day before, on October 8 in London (England) a boxing evening will be held, the main event of which will be the duel between the British Chris Eubank Jr. (32-2, 23 KOs) and Conor Benn (21-0, 14 KOs).

The “highlight” of the confrontation is that Eubank performs in middleweight (up to 72.6 kg), while Benn is two categories lower in welterweight (up to 66.7 kg).

According to the terms of the contract, the meeting will be held in the agreed intermediate limit of up to 70.8 kg.

In this regard, the public has reasonable analogies with the duel between Gennady Golovkin and Kell Brook in September 2016. Then Brook moved up from welterweight to middleweight to challenge his opponent’s WBC and IBF world titles, and suffered a painful setback, losing by TKO in the 5th round and suffering a broken eye socket.

However, Benn’s promoter Eddie Hearn believes that these fights cannot be compared.

“I saw some people say that this is a mistake, that it’s like Golovkin against Brook,” the functionary comments for
DAZN. “I know the weight is similar and the welterweight is moving up to middleweight, even if the fight is not in the middle division limit. But the difference is that Chris Eubank can be beaten, more than. And for Conor Benn, he is quite passable.

“With all this, Eubank has an excellent chin, excellent functionality, excellent condition. This is a cool, amazing fight that will ignite the fire from the first round, ”hearn is looking forward to it.

Until a few months ago, Eubank called “baby” Golovkin to the tango.
