Kazakh world middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) said he was not going to belittle the achievements of the Mexican Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs), with whom they will soon have a third fight.
However, this does not negate Gennady’s confidence that Alvarez has achieved, if not everything, then a lot thanks to the use of doping.
“I’m not the kind of person who would belittle the achievements of another athlete, and Canelo did achieve a lot,” says Golovkin. “But there are some other questions about how he achieved this and what he used in doing so. I don’t say something just because I just came up with it myself. There are also lab results. The doctor said that there are test results. And when people ask me about it, I answer: “Yes, I’m sure he (Canelo) cheated.” And if someone in his team does not like my words, then this is their problem.
It should be noted that it was Golovkin’s regular mention of the doping topic that angered Alvaares so much that now he wants to settle not only sports, but also personal scores with the Kazakhstani.
The Alvarez-Golovkin trilogy is scheduled for September 17 in the US.
