“I’m next in line for a title fight,” the Spanish-Georgian fighter told a press conference after UFC on ABC 5. “I can wait – one of the best skills I have is patience. If they offer me a fight with Max Holloway in Spain, let’s do it! If not, I’ll be waiting for my title fight. On May 8, I will be watching my next prey at the Volkanovski vs. Rodrgues fight.”
“I showed tonight that no one can match my skill level in a cage. I think everyone agrees with me. I know I can finish anyone in the division. Today it did not work out, but I beat him with ease. It will not be different with Alex – the recipe will be the same. I’m going to knock him out in the first, at most, in the second round. If not, I will dominate him for five rounds, no problem.”
The top featherweight bout headlined the Jacksonville event went all the way to a unanimous decision victory for Topuria, 50-44, 50-42 and 49-45.
Former UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway will take on the Korean Zombie on August 26, while a unification bout between Alex Volkanovski and Yair Rodriguez will headline UFC 290 on July 8.
As for the event in Spain, it is not yet on the calendar and plans of the strongest league in the world.
