Ilia Topuria’s brother has signed with the UFC

Georgian welterweight Alexander Topuria, 27, has signed a contract with the world’s strongest league.

This was announced in an interview with Enrique Gimeno MMA by his younger brother Ilia Topuria, who is the official challenger for the UFC welterweight title.

Alexander Topuria is riding a streak of three wins by technical knockout, which he has won in regional Spanish organizations. The Georgian fighter has won a total of five fights, all by first round submission, and suffered one loss by technical knockout in the third round. After suffering a setback, Topuria did not compete for six years and did not resume his professional career until 2021.

There is no information yet on when the fighter will make his UFC debut.

Recall that 26-year-old Elijah Topuria, ranked fifth in the UFC’s welterweight rankings, will challenge the division’s current champion, Australian Alexander Volkanovski, on Feb. 17 at UFC 298.
